I cannot overemphasize how slow moving this book is. It opens with a description of a slow moving ship and seems to almost be telling the story from the ship's perspective. While many characters are mentioned, it's not clear who is important or why. Nothing happened during this portion of the book; I kept waiting to see if the ship was going to blow up or something right at the end, but no. Nothing at all.
