When it comes to sci-fi, I have found that I either loathe a book or love it. There is no gray area. This makes me very hesitant to read sci-fi novels. Even when highly recommended by others, sometimes I find that I just don't get the hype, and then in other cases, I find myself recommending the book to literally everyone.
So many characters are introduced that it may take some time to recall who each of them is. Additionally, the author tends to avoid indicating the speaker during dialogue interactions.
So far, nothing is really drawing me into the book, but perhaps I would enjoy it more if I read further.
