While I love the fantasy genre, I felt faeries and fae were becoming overused, recycled, boring. But Unseelie was definitely worth the read. The author jumps right into the story. The magical prose makes you feel like you're right in the story, the descriptions and transitions were spot on. The character development was phenomenal, full of strong and unique characters. The world is wholly original and one you'll want to inhabit. As much as I liked the story, it did fumble a bit towards the middle when the pacing became slow. I also noticed a little bit of fluff, extra information that does not help the story come to a resolution. I also wasn't prepared for a cliffhanger. My overall rating is a solid 3.5, so for whole star sake, rounding up to 4. A good way to start my 2023 year in reading.
