Now I know that I am normally a romance and high fantasy reader, so this is way out of my comfort zone. Nevertheless, the premise of this book seemed interesting so I decided to give it a go, which turned out to be a great decision because I absolutely loved the book. Some of the parts were pretty uncomfortable to read, but that just comes with the nature of reading a book about this topic. But I would still recommend taking a look at the trigger warnings before you decide to read this novel just in case. The author has a way of taking into the setting because of the he writes. The stories are heart-wrenching, but it ends on a positive note as he is able to escape. Because this is a real-life story, it is difficult for me to find flaws with the plot. I mean, it is a true story so it happened in real life. Overall, I give this story five stars for authenticity and good storytelling.
