I really enjoyed this excerpt! I love reading true stories about events in history that I haven't necessarily heard about before, and this certainly falls into that category. This excerpt was even more moving due to the fact that it was told from a personal and heartfelt point of view. Just from this excerpt, I can see that this is a story that definitely needed to be told.
