I was really impressed with this story after reading the preview of it, and I am looking forward to reading more of it. This memoir centers around the life of Mae Taing, who yearns to escape the brutality he experiences as a result of living under the cruel and genocidal regime in Cambodia at the time. Mae’s story is incredible and the imagery of this novel is so real. This story is heartbreaking but it is such an important one to tell. I also love the cover of this memoir because I feel as though it fits very well with the novel.
