As the child of immigrant parents, I can deeply relate to the message in the preface of feeling dissatisfied by the evanescence of human memory in retaining my family's history. I loved the inclusion of various elements of Cambodian culture, and the poetic but also straightforward writing style. The cover has a sort of quietness that sucks you in, with its simple but attractive design, and the rest of the book is the same way.
