I'll admit I've been eager for this book to be released, and this short sample only increased my interest. No doubt a difficult subject matter, but one more than worthy of reading if only for the lessons we as people can learn from atrocities of the past (and there are so many other worthwhile reasons). The forward by the author is perfectly in depth, enough to understand exactly what the book is about but not so in depth as to bore the reader. I am so beyond grateful to the author for sharing his father's and so many other Cambodian's story before, as he mentions, it's too late. The Cambodian genocide has been too easily left "to the past", it's a subject that shouldn't be forgotten lest we allow it to happen again. I cannot wait to read this, learn from this, as I will regardless of if I win this raffle. Thank you thank you
