I always enjoy female detective lead storylines. Det. Natalie Lockhart is following in her father's footsteps and is the rookie detective on Burning Lakes PD. She is tasked with looking back through the missing nine murder books, until she gets her first case. Her first case doesn't take long to catch, however it hits very close to home and throughout the investigation the past comes colliding with the present in unexpected ways. I enjoyed the storyline and felt the author did well combing both past and present to make sense. However I felt that at times it was WAY too detailed and often details were not needed for the story. I like to imagine things myself when I am reading and do not need everything explained. I am looking forward to more in this series by this author.
