First of all wow! Alice Blanchard really knows how to write a detective novel that will have you turning pages to finish it in a hurry. Not only is it a good detective novel that has you wondering who done it, but the fact that she throws in a witchy setting makes it that much better. Alice Blanchard takes you to Burning Lake New York which is famous for executing three women that were accused of witchcraft. The women were later found innocent after the accusers admitted they made it all up. So just like with Salem Massachusetts, Burning Lake thrives on Taurus coming to their town because of the witch hangings. now while that is spooky on its own that means that people in town are diving into witchcraft at one point in time in their life. Rookie detective Natalie Lockhart is among those that tried it out during her teenage years. Her first murder case unfortunately is one of her older sister's best friends who is married to one of her co-workers. Now Natalie must prove herself by solving this case as well as nine cold cases that have been called the missing nine for as long as anybody can remember. The twists and turns that are in this book will have you wondering who killed Daisy and what does the witch craft culture have to do with it.
