Well rounded
The author really packs a lot into the first 50 or so pages of this novel. We meet Natalie, her living sister, Grace, and her deceased sister, Willow. We learn the family's backstory on at least a surface level, enough to understand why everyone is the way they are.
Then we cut to Natalie's professional life, where she is interacting with the other detectives in her squad at the local bar, and that's when things start to go downhill. Why is Brandon drinking so much? Who killed Daisy?
