This excerpt of Trace of Evil introduces a lot of interesting elements - the main character Natalie, who is a new cop on the force; the small-town setting; unsolved disappearances from many years ago; and the murder of a fellow cop's wife. There's also Natalie's surviving sister Grace, her precocious daughter Ellie, and the town's history of witchcraft. I'm curious about how these elements will intersect, and have a feeling the end is going to be devastating... I really like the cover design.
