There seems to be a lot going on in this. I think the story would function fine with the cold cases and the new murder at the end. I find the occult stuff and history of the town to be a little odd. Though I'm sure at the end it will have something to do with the cold cases otherwise it's just a bizarre thing to include. I wasn't loving this but the murder at the very end of this sample did have me curious to know more.
