This was a little detour into the fantasy genre for me and I really liked reading it. The story had a bit of romance, a bit of action, and a lot of twists and turns. The characters definitely brought the story to life for me and kept the story flowing.

Keeling has been told that her destiny lies with being a Dagda Priestress but for the sixteen year old, destiny pales to her dream of exploring far off lands and having adventures with her friends. But when war comes to her small island home, Keelin's life changes in ways she never imagined.

I liked Keelin and Brian but I think I loved Deirde and Deaglan. Although the book was a decent length, there were times the story dragged a bit with the time jumps and shifting POVs. The characters were all likable, interesting and could've been a tad bit more fleshed out, especially Brian and Keelin.

The ending was bittersweet for this avid romance reader. Not gonna lie, I cried.
