I received a copy of this amazing book, and am happy to give this review as a "thank you" for giving me another terrific book to read.

This story is hard to put into just one genre. There is Celtic mythology, magic, a little bit of romance, historical fiction, fantasy, warfare...well, you get the idea. It grabs you from the beginning and holds on until the end.

The story greatly enlightened me regarding Irish history, beliefs, warfare, healers, spirits and reminded me about a fact I had learned in school years ago: Ireland was one of a very few countries who successfully turned back the Roman Empire when they tried to overtake the Island, a fact that they remain rightly proud of to this day.

The story revolves around young Keelin, a daughter to the Chieftain. Even though this story takes place long ago, women were considered equals to men. Keelin was also born with gifts including telepathy and the ability to heal the sick. A Priestess, Nuala, is trying to teach young Keelin what she will need to know to also become a Priestess, which is very much expected of her. However, Keelin knows what she wants, and becoming a Priestess isn't high on that list.

Before Keelin can act on her own desires, her powers are needed to protect her beloved home.

Well written and with a great story line, this book is one that will bring you in and keep you interested until the last page.
