Slow Start but Sets a Good Scene

The excerpt did not give me a clear idea of where the story will go, but it did have a few strong points. The writing is very descriptive, so you can imagine the land, animals, and slight sense of magic that is surrounding the storyline. It seems like a promising story, even though the premise is out of my usual comfort zone.
