As Jane Hawk sets out to avenge her husband's suicide and the threat to her son's
safety, we see a tough, but compassionate, woman who believes that good should prevail. She goes to extreme and brutal measures to ensure that it does.
The story of Cora, an almost exact opposite of Jane, runs parallel to Jane's until the stories meet at a predictable (but still dramatic) climax.
The premise of evil taking over the world by mind control is not a new one, but always interesting and thought provoking. In this case it is skillfully done and provides a thrill per page.
The minor characters are fully fleshed out. This is an exciting and well crafted read that will be ranked high among lovers of the genre..
