Koontz does not slowly put you into the story, you are dropped in, mid-sequence, and are a part of the story immediately. The characters are in motion as you figure out who they are and what they are made of. It is a fun way to read a story. Character development is developed simultaneously with plot development. I just really want to know what happens next? And what is this Whispering Room that is in the title?
