First off, the cover is beautiful. There’s the juxtaposition between beauty, fragility, and conformity set against the metaphor of change represented by the butterfly and the one yellow butterfly in flight.

The first chapter of The Virtue of Sin are gripping and emotionally charged. The synopsis references dystopian classics like The Handmaid’s Tale, but it also makes me think of more recent novels like Vox and Future Home of the Living God, which wrestle with themes of voice and agency. I’m looking forward to seeing how Miriam and Caleb navigate their relationship from here, as well as what role Aaron will play.
