I initially didn't realize that this was a YA book, but I now find it that much more compelling. I can't imagine being raised in such an insular group to begin with, but being asked to choose a spouse as a young teen or worse, be chosen, is unfathomable. Aaron is interesting because he knows what life "outside" is like. I'm interested to see how Miriam's decision to start questioning her life is going to affect everyone else and whether this relationship with Aaron will become significant, or if it will lead to others (like Caleb) testing their boundaries.
