This was better than the debut book, Whisper Man, I read last year. North’s first book got much praise and I also quite liked it, but this topped it! Maybe because The WhisperMan felt familiar and The Shadows felt so new and raw. I never knew what was gonna happen. Everything was a surprise. I would recommend for Halloween without a doubt. Vibes are very Slenderman meets Stephan King. Which would make sense with him being mentioned in this book often. As a fiction book, this one is one of my 10 fave fiction reads of 2020 thus far. Eerie and puzzling, I spent so much time trying to figure out who done it. And I never managed to guess it. Totally a shocker. I think the end could have been dragged out more, but I’m definitely looking forward to North’s next book.
