Even more chilling than his first book - Alex North's The Shadows will have you turning on lights after the prologue. The story begins with a young child taken to the police department after a vicious murder. It continues years later as the terror continues. The author is excellent in creating an atmosphere of heavy anticipation. As in his book, The Whisper Man, the violence is inflicted upon the innocent (children) with adults racing to stop an evil but fascinating serial killer. The novel is fast paced leaving you breathless hoping the protagonists can stop him before he kills again. I would recommend this book to lovers of mystery but also those who don't shy away from horror. A gripping read.
