Oh my goodness this book gave me the absolute willies. This author clearly has a knack for writing terrifying reads, and I immediately checked out The Whisper Man so I can continue reading more by this author.

This story gives us Paul Adams. As an adult he is still dealing with some of the issues he faced during his teenage years - mainly that one of his friends was brutally murdered and he was suspected of the crime. Thanks to a mother that wouldn't give up, Paul was cleared of any suspicion. Two other boys were accused, one going to prison and the other disappearing in to the local woods, never to be seen again. Paul moves away, but returns to town to see his aging mother.

A copycat crime is committed while Paul is in town, and many memories for Paul come to the surface.

I really enjoyed the switching timelines, which is usually something I don't enjoy. Alex North does an excellent job with it and with the varying perspectives.

Great read, but I definitely had to read it with the lights on!
