There were things I loved about this one. I thought the characters were vividly brought to life, and the plot worked for me overall. Paul made a splendid narrator and I empathized with him so much.
I liked the writing style and found it captivating. I did, however, feel that it was slightly too wordy and long. A bit more editing would have made a stronger read. I also felt like the ending left me with some questions that I didn’t understand.
I couldn’t put this one down. I’m so glad I chose it firmly book of the month. I’m giving it four stars because of the things I mentioned. Had the writing been a little tighter and the small loose endings better addressed in the end, it would have been five stars for me.
