I was so thrilled to have the chance to read The Shadows. I love scary, horror novels and this was right up my alley. I thought this book was amazing and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I raced through it in two days because I had to find out how it ended.
Paul Adams is a teenager when he meets Charlie Crabtree. He becomes a right foursome with his own best friend James along with Charlie and his sidekick Billy. Charlie is obsessed with dreams and with death. He believes you can use dreams to get “Red Hands” to harm your enemies. Paul becomes first skeptical and then scared of Charlie. He withdraws from the group but then someone ends up dead. He flees town a few years later for college and doesn’t return until his mother is in her deathbed. She has dementia but gives Paul many spooky clues and warnings. Where is a Charlie? Is he alive? And who is leaving red hand prints on doors? Is Red Hands real or a dream? This book keeps you guessing until the end. It’s a must read for all horror fans and I highly recommend it!
