Alex North has a way of pulling you into the story from the very beginning, and he did it again with The Shadows.

Amanda, a police officer, the child of a police officer, struggles with things that haunt her dreams. Are they just from the job and the things she has seen or are there from something else? The grisly crime scene she walks into has a very disturbing element to it. What are they and why are they there?

Paul, returning to his hometown for the first time in twenty-five years also struggles with his demons that kept him away from so long. He's there to see his mother who has taken a turn for the worse. You can tell he would rather be anywhere but there. During the visit, his mother talks about something that catches him off guard. Something the reader has already seen.

North's writing is easy to read. His descriptions are perfect and not too wordy, something I appreciate. He delivers exactly the right about of creepy in his writing that makes you not want to read his books at night. I absolutely cannot wait to read the full version! I loved this preview!
