Having read The Whisper Man by Alex North, I knew what I was getting into by reading The Shadows, but nothing can really prepare you for a book by North. He is a master at building layers in stories that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
This book gets five stars for the creepy factor alone. I had to read it during daylight hours!
This story follows Paul Adams as he returns home to tend to his ailing mother - a home he did not wish to ever return to.
There's murder, love, lucid dreaming, a love of books and writing. This book really has it all. It also kept me guessing until the end.
