Great book! Really has me thinking about my dreams and the ones I had that felt so real.
Paul and his friend James were kind of the outsiders. James would get bullied so Paul did what he could to protect him. Then came Charlie and Billy. Charlie seemed to be the type to bully people. He did cause and accident that killed a boy and all he did was heckle at him. Weird, like Charlie knew that it was going to happen that way. Billy was a tag along, he would do what Charlie did and would try to outmatch James and Paul.
You meet Amanda again who was in The Whisper Man, and it makes you think if these 2 are connected somehow.
Once Paul, James, Billy and Charlie started to hang out more. Charlie suggested to start a dream journal. He said he knew ways that he could fall asleep and yet control his dream. The journals will have cross reference with all the others to be sure they were in the same dream. To look for patterns.
Paul did just that, he would think of an idea and then dream about it, he would then write down his dream when he woke up. It did kind of work, yet he wasn't ready to tell Charlie that. Charlie didn't sit right with Paul. The story of the woods was that there was a guy who went in and committed suicide. Charlie mentioned he saw a shadow in his dream and it was the man from the woods. Paul had enough and left the group, he hung out with a friend from a school club, her name was Jenny.
That is where things get weird for me. Reading it seemed like James died due to Billy and Charlie killing him. Yet, get this...........that didn't happen!! Yeah, mind blown right? It was a lot to read and a lot take in once Amanda and Paul were putting the pieces together!! Alex North did an awesome job if I say so.
