I read Alex North’s previous novel, ‘The Whisper Man’, and I found the story to be shiver-inducingly creepy as well as a page-turner. I was impressed by his writing style—not your typical thriller. There was almost something poetic in his writing. But my favorite aspect was how I couldn’t predict where North was going—practically ever chapter was a cliffhanger.

North’s next book ‘The Shadows’ looks to be just as engaging, another page-turner. He looks at evil from the point of view of those who either fight against it or are drawn into its world without choice, and the reader can’t help but anxiously continue on, hoping the evil will be stopped, even though after reaching the conclusion, they feel that the way they look at the world will be different.

While on the surface it seems that the evil manifested in a teenage boy, anyone familiar with North knows that it’s only the beginning, and there is something deeper and darker to be discovered.

I look forward to reading ‘The Shadows’.
