"It was my mother who took me to the police station." I was hooked, The Shadows starts out with a murder. The reader is immediately pulled into the Paul's journey to the police station. Did he do it? If so, what did he do? The author is very good at stringing the reader along. We then meet the detective, Amanda Beck, her last case is hinted at and it appears she relives it in her nightmares, but when she sees the gruesome crime scene she is "stopped in her tracks"........the red hands. Fast forward 25 years our accused is visiting his mother, the one who promised everything would be okay. The reader quickly realizes this is not your average crime thriller. Who is this Charlie? Why is Paul's dying mother referring to the red hands and who exactly is in the house? I need to get my hands on this book and finish it. I think it will be one heck of a good roller coaster ride.
