Although I hadn't read The Whisper Man, I was excited to pick this one up since I had heard good things about his previous novel.

North certainly excels in creating a creepy and atmospheric setting in this story. The premise of this book, lucid dreams, was fascinating and unique to me, and it definitely held my attention in the beginning of the story.

There are many characters in this one who are all somewhat related to each other in a way, so I'd recommend keeping tabs of who's who. I thought there were parts, including the ending, that were unclear, but I am unsure if the ambiguity was the author's intention.

I liked this story, but didn't love it as it fell short at times in holding my attention throughout. You can definitely read this one without having read The Whisper Man.

Thank you to Celadon Books for my physical ARC. All opinions are my own.
