I am always in the mood for a good thriller or horror story, but The Shadows did not give me everything I was hoping for. I did enjoy the book, but it was not one of my favorites. Although I did like the premise, I am unsure if it was the writing style or the speed of the thriller that just was not for me. I felt the book was more of a slow burn thriller, versus the constant twists and turns, which I usually enjoy most. While the books was slower paced than I usually look for, the plot was very interesting and did keep me guessing. I kept thinking I knew the outcome, but was always pleasantly surprised when there was another twist. Certain portions of the book were not as memorable for me as others, but this book definitely picks up speed towards the end. It is definitely a great Fall/ Halloween read. I will pick up another book by this author in the future.
