This is a mystery/thriller that really grabs your attention and pulls you in. 25 years ago, there was a horrific murder in a small town, and the main character, Paul, was affected by it. Two of his friends were believed to have killed his other friend in a ritualistic and horrifying way. One was apprehended, the other was not.
Now, 25 years later, Paul is returning to his small hometown to assist with his mother who is suffering from dementia, and discovers that there has been another ritualistic murder, and with one of his old friends on the loose, is it possible that he was involved?
The writing in this book is easy to read yet still very descriptive. The author captures what it is like to live in a small town and feel like an outsider looking in. The book is quite atmospheric and dark, it is not for those who are not okay with violence against children and blood/gore. I read this book in two days, I was hooked!
