This book is a cautionary tale about being careful who you associate with because their stink becomes your stink. In other words, you lay down with dogs you are going to get fleas. Amazing, our lead protagonist returns to town to see his dying Mother after leaving years earlier when a young boy was accused of murdering an innocent friend. He left quickly to avoid association and returns with more questions than answers.
Alex North knows scary and he really gets the heart-pounding creep factor up in his new book, The Shadows. Does it tell you anything that I slept with the light on last night? I think I may have to acknowledge that he is very good at this genre, but maybe too much for this reader. It’s why I don’t read Stephen King books. Don’t go into the forest and watch out for the blood on your front door. Oh, and dreams can be shared. Eeeeeek.
