Let's start with the cover - a hand with 4 figures, leaving shadows to create the space between fingers - creepy, yet it draws you in. The author, Alex North, is now an auto buy for me. After reading The Whisper Man, I can only imagine how great this one is going to be. Now onto this book. Wow, just wow! A mother who would do anything to protect her child, a murder from years ago still lingering and haunting the town, a detective looking at a dead child's body and bloody handprints on a gravestone, and a son going back home to visit his dying mother - the same one who years ago would have done anything to protect her son. This book is going to be incredible, and I can't wait to find out what these shadows are hiding.
