Superb Suspense Hiding in The Shadows
“It’s going to be okay.
Yes, I think about that a lot.
How every good parent says it, and how often they’re wrong.”
With those words, on page four, I was totally hooked. And, at the same time, I regretted reading this excerpt from bookishfirst alone, in the dark at 10:30 PM 🤣 I LOVE reading thrillers, but am also a complete scaredy cat at heart and this particular first impression was incredible, and full of the perfect amount of suspense.
The introduction to the characters was a bit different - noticeably there were no genders or names in the beginning, and I felt like it was a noteworthy, well done detail. Having never read Alex North’s debut title, I have to say he impressed me with his writing and I’ll be adding both of these titles to my to be read list immediately!
