I have not read the author's first book, The Whisper Man so I'm not on the hype train. The preview was fine. Pretty standard opening, with the typical cop daughter with a not great relationship with her cop father and the horrific crime scenes. Even the dementia patient screaming about the past crime felt done to death. Meh.
