I was glued to this First Look. The prologue is captivating, as we look into the mind of a tortured teenaged boy, Paul, who knows it all isn't going to be okay and that even the strongest, most caring adults can't always protect their kids from the evil that lurks in the world.
The opening chapters are told in dual perspectives: the female detective, and the teenaged boy now grown up. A copycat killer is on the prowl, sure to revive up Paul's childhood dread and guaranteed to grab the cop's attention.
This gave me Stephen King vibes and I loved it.
