This excerpt grabbed me from the very first sentence of the prologue. The juxtaposition of the crime in the past and the current one makes me want to know more. The characters of Detective Amanda Beck and Paul are intriguing; just enough is given in these first two chapters to make you want to learn more about them and how their lives will intertwine. Also, the cover is fantastic and creepy! I loved the ARC I received of The Whisper Man and would love to read The Shadows!
