Having been enthralled by Alex North's Whisper Man, I was eager to read The Shadows as soon as I learned it was to be published. The cover image promises a similarly creepy story, and the opening chapters included in this sample give evidence that promise will be fulfilled. They also raise a number of questions: what happened to Paul's friend in the prologue? was Paul arrested and tried, or taken in by the police as a witness or "person of interest"? what is Amanda Beck's connection, if any, to the earlier incident? I'll definitely look forward to reading this novel as soon as I can get my hands on it, and expect it will be one of those that's hard to put down.
