The cover is very much like the author's first book, The Whisper Man. It evokes the creepiness I mentioned in my title. We have another small village, decades old murder, mentally frail mother, son reluctantly returning, and a law enforcement officer puzzled as whether a recent murder connects to the old murder. All the ingredients for a super sophomore effort by the author. It should be an exciting read.
