One of my favorite aspects of reading "The Whisper Man" was the creepy setting that Alex North managed to convey. In truth, the setting acted as it's own character in that novel, and "The Shadows" has the same impact. The scene describing the quarry transports you to a desolate landscape and you know that terrible things have happened there even before the terrifying scene is revealed. With the prologue setting up the knowledge that bad things have been happening in this town for years, I can't wait to see how Paul, Amanda, and all of those red hands will come together in this story. Alex North is quickly becoming a must-read author for me.
