Returning to your childhood home for the first time in years is never easy and maybe a little unsettling depending on the circumstances of your leaving. Paul and his mother seem to have a tenuous relationship, but when duty calls Paul home to be there for his mother's impending death, the past seems to jump right into the present. Paul and his mother's connection to a mysterious death that occurred on the playground when Paul was a youth has me very intrigued. When she sees Paul with looking at a bok on her bedside table, she becomes instantly agitated which leads me to believe that everything may not be as quaint and peaceful in this community as it seems. I must read this story to learn more about the significance of red hands and to find out what happened to Charlie Crabtree and others.
