Truth be told I haven’t kept up on the YA trends.

The books I read back when I was between 8-16 were Francine Pascal’s Sweet Valley Twins, Sweet Valley High; along with multi-authored Sweet Dreams books; Scholastic/Apple titles (including Teen Witch); Ann Martin’s The Babysitter’s Club; there was even one about cheerleaders.

There was also Goosebumps, R.L Stine, and Christopher Pike.

Naturally, those were more girl oriented and left boys out. I know the 1960’s and 1970’s kids had the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series.

I would not classify this as YA. Maybe GRADE SCHOOL. The content is best suited for those who enjoy bathroom humor, hijinks, and mishaps.

I’ll give it to the author for stepping up, out, and going through with this plot.

It isn’t something I would’ve read or buy for my child. I am sure that there are some readers out there for this book.
