The title felt juvenile and the synopsis did nothing to change that opinion. In reading the synopsis, the names, "Do-Over," "Turbo Cakes," and "Uncle Ruckus," were a bit off-putting—apparently some sort of camp nicknames. Then I got to the excerpt and immediately cringed at the grammar issues. I kept reading and it did not get better. This book is clearly geared towards adolescent boys and it sadly highlights childish, brutish behavior, including calling each other "retard." Why is it still acceptable two decades into the twenty-first century to use this term? As an aunt of a special needs child, I find this highly offensive because I can see some young boy reading this and then doing exactly what these boys are doing. Unacceptable. I would not recommend this for anyone, especially parents with early adolescent boys.
