I actually picked this book because the author’s life sounded so fascinating! After reading about his crazy life and doing things like being a pilot, I wasn’t surprised this book read more like a history text than a novel. Going into it, I had that presumption. However, expectation and reality are always different, and I realized early on that it was just too difficult for me to get through.

I really liked the overall concept and new spin on the King Arthur plot. I especially loved that it centered around a princess rather than the knights. Overall, I was bummed I couldn’t get into this one. I did end up DNFing around 30% of the way though, so my review is pretty one-dimensional.

I have no doubt that fans of medieval fantasy and historical fiction will find their next new favorite read between these pages. I also liked the cover, even though it didn’t look as “clean” as the big publishers.
