First off, let me say that I read very few books that fall into the Fantasy/Mythology genre. In the past, I've found novels in this genre to have plots and characters that are difficult to follow, and not of great interest to me. "The Princess of Selgovae and the High King" by Bryce Gibby was such a pleasant surprise! Ms. Gibby did a truly amazing job of researching, developing and creating and enjoyable read. This was the first fantasy/mythological novel that held my interest from the first chapter to the last. The plot starts off with Princess Vivien's peaceful life with her father. This all changes once the Saxons invade their kingdom. Princess Vivien vows to follow her father's wishes by fleeing the kingdom that has only known peace. Hence her journey begins. Along the way, she encounters numerous characters. Some become her allies, and some are her foes. The artwork included throughout the chapters definitely adds to the enjoyment of this wonderfully written novel. I look forward to reading Book Two in this series.
