I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked The Princess of Selgovae and the High King. I think it fits perfectly into what readers are looking for today, and will hit well with many readers. I have trouble with the cover bringing people in which makes me sad, because I think people will actually enjoy this book once they crack it open. This book is also an illustrated novel, but sometime the picture felt weird to me. Not in a way I would steer people away from the book, but some of the pictures felt unnecessary. That being said I did love the pics of the character art, because I like when authors kind of confirm what a character looks like in their mind. Onto the positive stuff I think Bryce D. Gibby wrote great characters, the idea of princesses, knights, and magic mixes really well in this book. The author keeps you engaged until the very end. I can’t wait to continue this series, and I think it’s perfect for any historic reader, but especially romantic, historic readers.
