The artwork in this book is beautiful including the cover. Unfortunately, that's the only part I liked. I love fantasy but this book was not for me. The writing felt forced like the author was trying too hard to make the language archaic or medieval. Yet at the same time, the writing felt juvenile and simplistic. There was too much focus on Vivien's maidenly beauty and although she is also intelligent, the author should've shown us this instead of simply telling us. Honestly, I felt myself cringing as I read something that felt more like fanfiction than an actual published book.
