I didn’t realize this was book two in a series. However, the way it is written, you don’t really NEED to read the book that came before it in order to understand. Personally, I had to go back and read the first book before I could go any further into this one. Once I did, I was hooked! I really enjoyed the world building and the different Characters. I thought they were pretty interesting and relatable. The king of humor was pretty great as well! I also really like that the first chapter started off in battle. It really made me want to dig into it right away.
I think the author did a good job of creating a fantasy world with her own version of the different creatures and stuff. I thought the monk thing was an interesting concept. I thought it was cool that they all had different factions and beliefs. There’s some romance and family drama (which i love in my fantasy books) that just help make the book great.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing if there is a next one!
